Benjamin Confirmed as Surgeon General

Regina Benjamin, MD, a member of the CHA Board of Trustees and founder of Bayou La Batre (AL) health clinic, was unanimously confirmed to the post of Surgeon General by the Senate on Oct. 29. Benjamin’s and other health-related nominations have been stalled due to a disagreement between the White House and Senate Republicans over issues related to Medicare contractors.
