New Integrative Formation Program Targets Catholic Health Care Leadership Dyads

The Center for Business Excellence in the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas is accepting applications for its new Executive Education in Catholic Health Care Leadership program. Set to debut in August 2012, the program is designed to increase the mission alignment within executive teams who are dealing with profoundly complex leadership issues while caring for patients as an expression of the healing ministry of Jesus.  “One of the needs for a program like this is that Catholic health care organizations competing in today’s marketplace need to be distinctive,” stated the program’s lead faculty, Michael Naughton, Ph.D. “What is crucial to the distinctiveness of Catholic health care is to have leaders who have a deep sense of what it means to be leading a Catholic health care system.”
The university-based curriculum has been designed especially for teams of two to four current or emerging leaders that would include at least one physician and one administrator. The overall goal is for cross-functional leadership teams to invest in a significant, collaborative learning experience that refines their leadership capacities resulting in greater integration between the mission and practice delivered by their healing ministries.
Comprised of four educational modules of four days of study each, the sixteen-day program will be completed in nine months. Modules one, three and four will take place on the University of St. Thomas’ two urban campuses in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. The cohort’s signature learning experience will occur during module two scheduled for Rome, Italy. There the cohort members will engage in discussions with Roman Curia offices related to health care, and attend a papal audience. Participant’s spouses and family members are welcome to travel with the cohort to the Eternal City.
